Good morning and happy first Monday of the year! We hope it’s been treating you kindly. Apparently, this is called Blue Monday. According to a 2005 study by Sky Travel, it’s the most depressing day of the year.
They determined this with some type of equation, but I find it problematic that corporations may try to capitalize on depression, with vitamin boosters, hotel packages and the like. Many articles I’ve read since have called the equation pseudoscience, so take it with a grain of salt, as with most studies publicized by the media.
For Chat About today, Mayor of Bemidji Rita Albrecht will preview the agenda of tonight’s meeting.
From what I can tell, it’s largely routine beginning-of-the-year stuff, but they will have the final reading of a fairly new amendment to an existing ordinance about the parking of recreational vehicles on city streets (that don’t already have parking restrictions). However, city council meetings can be full of excitement! I wouldn’t miss it!
That’s on Chat About today at 12:15 p.m., and I’ll also have a recap of the city council meeting for tomorrow’s news.
With the return of McDonald’s Morning Trivia today, I asked what “Nemo” meant. The name Nemo has been made famous by Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” and before that, Jules Vernes’ “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”
Nemo means no one. Interesting name choice, for both the clownfish and the legendary sea captain.
If you haven’t checked out Dr. Phil’s house for sale, I’ve included it here. Behold, the wall of assault rifles and a staircase adorned with what Todd thinks are snakes, I thought they were branches.
That’s it for me for now, I’ll be back bright and early tomorrow with local news from around 101 Country, and of course to heckle Todd on the Morning Show!
