For our McDonald’s Trivia question this morning, I asked which Washington Irving 1819 short story was about a man who fell asleep in the woods for 20 years.
The answer was the story of Rip Van Winkle!
Irving is also the author of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Irving is credited as being the father of pop culture, and for creating a history for America with his fables.
My home state, New York, is the setting for both of these stories. New York today pays a lot of homage to its Dutch history, with a lot of streets named Van something! Here’s a link with more history of Irving and his stories!
